Why this name?I was born Jessica Taryn Murphy. Decided my middle name was more unique!
Do you play live?I love playing live but am predominantly working in the recording studio. Hoping to change that soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry? It's awesome! Very empowering for the independent artist.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?Maybe... maybe not
Band History:I grew up in a very musical family. We all played instruments, did the whole "family band" thing for 8 years touring around, making a living playing music. Was pretty cool. Eventually I moved to Nashville and that's where I am now.. still doing my thing.
Your influences?Early on Definitely Mariah Carey! Taylor Dayne, Celine Dion, then of course, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, all of the powerhouse female vocalists. Now it's more on the singer/songwriter side... John Mayer, James Morrison, Rob Thomas.
Favorite spot?I love the Northwest and am planning to move back soon. Likely Seattle, maybe Vancouver... San Francisco is nice too!
Equipment used:Well I am a loyal Mac computer user. (go Apple!) Been recording with Pro Tools for 6 years... I love my Rode K2 microphone but am always looking to add to my collection.
Anything else...?I am releasing an EP this month titled, "Anything Everything" which is designed in part to help fund my actual "official" album. I'll be posting details soon!
